Abstract

Electronic bulletin board printouts from The Backroom, 1987-1990, a New York-based computer bulletin board service (BBS) co-moderated by David Charnow. Known as the Upper Westsider, Charnow was instrumental in establishing and maintaining "Survivors," a section of the The Backroom BBS that served as a discussion forum for people with HIV/AIDS.

Ivanyi, Laszlo diary

Abstract

Typescripts of Ivanyi Laszlo's diary, one in the original French and one English translation. The diary documents his life and reflections on his past, 1963-1967. Additional comments were added and included in the typescripts through 2008. Laszlo, an accomplished artist and pianist, escaped Hungary after the fall of the 1956 revolution. He relocated to Paris, France, where he was introduced into Parisian high society.

Journals, a newsletter and an autobiographical note from James M. Martin. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1943, Martin was a writer, activist, and attorney. This collection contains journals documenting Martin's life in Los Angeles and Texas in the early 1970s, an issue of his self-published newsletter for Servants of the Star and Snake, as well as an autobiographical timeline written by Martin in 1995.
